Private equity subject matter expert Herb Engert provides strategic guidance to CrossCountry, especially in areas pertaining to entrepreneurship, small business growth, private equity/venture capital, and DEI initiatives.

Herb has more than three decades of experience working with private and public companies on a broad range of corporate deals and advising on all aspects of capital strategy, including preserving, optimizing, raising, and investing. As a former Managing Partner of EY’s New York office and Global Private Equity Leader, he brings significant expertise in working with private equity-backed companies, helping to position them for exit through IPO or mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and employing value creation strategies throughout the lifecycle.

As EY New York’s first LGBTQ Managing Partner, Herb is an outspoken advocate for meaningful diversity and inclusion in the global workplace. A champion of creating cultures of care and belonging, he believes diversity and inclusion are the foundation of future success for all organizations and remains deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.

An alum of Harvard Business School’s Strategic Leadership Program, Herb was named by City and State to the Finance 50 Power List, the recipient of the Accounting Alumnus of the Year award from his alma mater, St. John Fisher College, and the 2021 Leadership Award from Junior Achievement New York.
